Rio Tinto - Hamersley Agriculture Project (HAP)

Making hay while the Sun shines in the Pilbara.

At one of Australia's newest and largest agricultural irrigation projects, the scorching Pilbara sun touches 55ºC, but the end result is hundreds of hectares of ripening Rhodes grass growing as hay for thousands of Rio Tinto cattle. 
The wide brown land has become a little greener thanks to Total Eden's involvement in this innovative Rio Tinto owned Hamersley Agriculture Project (HAP) in the resources-rich Pilbara region of Western Australia. 

The project - 45km north east of Tom Price and the first of its kind in the region - utilises surplus water from the nearby Marandoo iron-ore mine to cultivate 850 hectares of irrigated hay crop destined for 25,000 Rio Tinto cattle and other local pastoralists. 

BHP Billiton Finucane Island - Pump Stations & Mainline

Problem

Land needing rehabilitation at BHP Billiton's Finucane Island project located just outside Port Headland in Western Australia.

 

Solution

Billiton chose Total Eden to supply a sustainable water solution which included the supply and installation of tanks, pump stations and 3.5km of 280mm polyethylene mainline and laterals.

Outcome

A successful 40 hectare rehabilitation project.

The installation of dust suppression water guns where dust is a problem.

Total Eden is supplying dust suppression water guns for the Fortescue Metals expansion project to minimise the impacts on on mining operations, flora, fauna and the community.
